The Boston Red Sox opened Tuesday’s action with a 7-3 record, good enough for second in the AL East.
It’s also much, much better than what people expected from them.
The pitching staff has been the main reason why the Red Sox have been so good, but it’s important not to overlook a red-hot slugger who has contributed almost as much as the hurlers: Tyler O’Neill.
On Tuesday, against none other than former Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes, O’Neill cleared the Green Monster with relative ease.
Not only did it go over the wall: it disappeared from sight and left the stadium!

The raw power O’Neill boasts is almost unparalleled, and he has been showing it with more consistency this year.
It’s his sixth home run of the season.
As hard to believe as it might sound, he only has six RBI to show for his efforts.
It means that every RBI he has earned this season is a product of his own power.
The young outfielder is showing that he always had the talent to succeed and replicate that fantastic 2021 season he had with the St. Louis Cardinals, in which he hit 34 home runs and had a .912 OPS.
After hitting his home run on Tuesday afternoon, his batting line increased to an impressive .379/.526/1.000.
If he stays healthy all year and keeps performing like this, the Red Sox might actually have a chance to sneak into the postseason.
There is a lot of baseball left to play, though.
For now, let’s enjoy O’Neill and his magnificent power.
It’s definitely worth admiring.
