The Arizona Cardinals couldn’t keep up with the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, and they also lost one of their key pieces for the foreseeable future.
James Conner suffered a knee injury in the loss, and according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, he’s now expected to miss multiple weeks and is a candidate to be placed on the Injured Reserve (IR) list.

Conner suffered the injury after breaking out for a 35-yard scramble in the second quarter and did not return after.
Through the first five weeks of the season, the former Pittsburgh Steeler paced his team with 364 rushing yards and a couple of touchdowns on 68 attempts.
This is a big blow for a team that had struggled to get much going on the ground, as no other RB on the roster has even reached 50 yards rushing.
The Cardinals are 1-4 and even though they were never expected to compete this season, it’s still kind of disappointing, as they’ve looked much better than most analysts predicted in the offseason.
Jonathan Gannon’s team claimed RB Tony Jones Jr. off waivers via the New Orleans Saints to add more depth in Conner’s absence, but Emari Demercado figures to do most of the heavy lifting.
Kyler Murray is still working his way back to the field, and some believe we may not see him play at all this season, especially if the Cardinals continue to lose games.
