Once Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy are off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, the talent at the quarterback position takes a considerable dip, with only a couple of other players at the position really considered to be potential stars on the next level.
One of those players is Michael Penix Jr., out of the University of Washington, who is a very talented player who relies on some pinpoint accuracy on the field but has had a problem staying healthy and has suffered multiple knee issues before even getting to the NFL.
Even though Penix is saying all the right things and passing all the tests, there’s still an obvious concern about his health, especially when a team might be risking a first or second-round draft pick on the former Huskies star.
Carmen Vitali of FOX Sports recently let it be known that it is the health concern that has some teams second-guessing whether Penix is worth the risk, via the NFL on FOX Podcast.
“When you are talking about multiple knee surgeries and all that kind of stuff, that’s enough to scare teams down to putting you in the next tier,” Vitali said.

Although there are some glaring concerns about Penix about two weeks before the NFL Draft gets underway on April 25, there’s a chance it may not stop a team that has been impressed by what they’ve seen from him.
In fact, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that Penix turns out to be the steal of the draft.
