The NFL Draft is just a couple of weeks away, and that means all teams are working around the clock to find the best value.
Of course, that means digging deep into the tape, the measurables, and every piece of information they can get their hands on to get the best possible prospects they can.
And while we’re talking about literally hundreds of players, most of the attention always focuses on the first round.
That’s why there has been a lot of talk about J.J. McCarthy lately.
The Michigan product continues to climb up most big boards, up to the point where former NFL player Louis Riddick claimed that he wouldn’t be shocked if he cracked the top three.
Talking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Riddick stated that a good friend of his who’s a highly-ranked official for an NFL team told him that he wouldn’t be surprised if McCarthy went ahead of Drake Maye on April 25.

That’s big news, as Maye has been projected to go either No. 2 or No. 3 for most of the draft process, but it seems like he’s slipping.
More than that, scouts are falling in love with what they’re seeing from McCarthy’s tape, so perhaps HC Jim Harbaugh was onto something when he called him the best quarterback in this class.
McCarthy wasn’t a highly-touted prospect by the end of the college football season, but the more they watch him, the more they like him.
Now, it’ll be a matter of who manages to get their hands on him.
