The Minnesota Vikings are multiple pieces away from rounding up their roster.
Nonetheless, they know as well as any other team in the league that you must find your franchise quarterback before all the other pieces also fall in place.
With that in mind, they’ve been rumored to make a trade in the first round of the upcoming edition of the NFL Draft to try and get their man.
Recently, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. projected them to jump all the way to No. 5, trading with the Los Angeles Chargers to get their hands on J.J. McCarthy, via “Get Up” on Twitter.

McCarthy has been the most notorious riser on recent draft boards.
He was impressive at his Pro Day, and Jim Harbaugh’s endorsement seems to be paying off.
While his numbers aren’t that impressive, he did prove that he could make any throw when his team was in need of a big play.
The Vikings allowed Kirk Cousins to walk away as a free agent, replacing him with veteran Sam Darnold.
Darnold could hold down the fort to start the season while whoever they pick gets a hold of the offense, but he’s clearly not much more than just a stopgap until they find their guy.
And with the Michigan product now looking like a legitimate NFL starting-caliber quarterback, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Vikings going all-in and giving up several assets to move up and get their hands on him.
