Skip Bayless was always one of Johnny Manziel’s biggest fans, as he went on his show for years and would sing his praises at the top of his lungs.
Bayless would often say that Johnny Manziel should have been the first pick in the draft, banged the table to find a way to get him to the Dallas Cowboys, and said after he got drafted by the Cleveland Browns that he would be a bigger star for the city than LeBron James.
Manziel appeared on “Undisputed” today and received an apology from Bayless, saying he was sorry to Manziel for the “added pressure” of living up to high expectations.

The expectations were out of control after Manziel’s Heisman Trophy season at Texas A&M, and the success and fame quickly went to his head and ultimately contributed to his downfall as a football player.
“I got so fired up, I went so far as to say you could become bigger in Cleveland, Ohio than LeBron James,” Bayless said.
“I hope I didn’t increase the expectation to extraordinary levels that you couldn’t live up to,” he said.
Manziel acknowledged that it was just the wrong fit and that he wasn’t fit to be the savior of a franchise that desperately needed it.
He also mentioned that he had high expectations for himself and he thought about himself the same way Bayless and other media members did.
It’s great to hear Manziel being introspective and fans can only hope he has found peace and happiness in his post-football career.
