There have been a few surprising developments a couple of weeks into the 2024 MLB season.
The Miami Marlins are 1-11, the Seattle Mariners and the Houston Astros are tied for last place in the AL West, and the Pittsburgh Pirates lead the NL Central with a 9-3 record.
However, the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees being dominant right out of the gate shouldn’t be surprising for anyone, particularly in LA’s case.
The two contenders reached a round number of victories in 2024 on Tuesday, and became the first two squad to do it.
“Two @MLB teams reached 10 wins today. The @Dodgers and @Yankees,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

The Dodgers did it in 14 games, as they played a couple in South Korea as part of the Seoul Series from March 20 to March 21.
The Yankees, on the other hand, only needed 12 contests to reach 10 wins.
The Dodgers managed to add a ton of talent to an already elite ballclub during the offseason.
They won 100 games last year and brought in Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Teoscar Hernandez, and many more.
The Yanks, on the other hand, are coming off one of their worst seasons in recent memory.
They moved quickly and swiftly to trade for Juan Soto, Trent Grisham, Alex Verdugo, Caleb Ferguson, and Victor Gonzalez, and also added Marcus Stroman via free agency.
Even though they lost Gerrit Cole to an elbow injury and he won’t be back until May or June, they have managed to do just fine without him for the time being.
We are talking about two talented and deep squads reaching 10 wins before anyone else in their respective leagues.
They should continue to pace the league and play at a high level unless something changes.
