This is one of the most stacked NFL Draft classes we’ve seen in quite a while, at least when it comes to the quarterback position.
That’s why scouts and analysts have gone back and forth with multiple prospects, knowing that Caleb Williams is the clear-cut favorite and won’t be available after the Chicago Bears are on the clock with the No. 1 pick.
Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye spent most of the time leading to the draft as the leading candidates to go No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, but that’s no longer the case.
The more time that passes, the more everybody seems to be high on J.J. McCarthy, including former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky.
Recently, the player-turned-analyst raved about McCarthy and how ready he might be for the NFL because of the NFL-style concepts he repeatedly ran in college.
He shared a couple of clips analyzing McCarthy’s poised and instincts in the pocket, lauding his reads and his balance as he made throws that he could be asked to make in the pros right away and repeatedly.
He also went as far as to predict that he could be very good right away if he were to go to the Minnesota Vikings, also tagging the New England Patriots and Washington Commanders on his tweet.

The Vikings are reportedly very high on McCarthy, while the Commanders and Patriots — who have the No. 2 and No. 3 picks — could also be in the mix to get him.
Whether he’s going to end up with any of those teams remains to be seen, but he’s looking like a top-5 pick right now.
