The Washington Commanders have an opportunity to reset their franchise with a new star quarterback.
It’s been a while since they last had a franchise-changing player at the most important position in the game.
That’s why Robert Griffin III, who happened to be that last player, has some clear thoughts about who they should take with the No. 2 selection.
Talking on his podcast, he stated that there should be no debate between Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye right now, adding that the Commanders shouldn’t hesitate to take the LSU product.
While he acknowledges that both players are athletic and like to sling the football down the field, Daniels has some big edges over Maye at this point.
The Washington Commanders should draft Jayden Daniels at #2. There should be no debate between him and Drake Maye.

He believes his pre and post-snap processing is better than anybody else’s in college football, adding that he was the most explosive dual-threat player in the game last season.
Griffin also said that the tape shows that Daniels has arguably the best deep ball in this draft class, adding that his style of play is a better fit for the Commanders.
Maye is also a promising prospect, but he looks a little more raw.
On top of that, the Commanders hired Kliff Kingsbury to be their new offensive coordinator, later adding Brian Johnson as their pass game coordinator.
Daniels is a better fit for what they usually run on offense, so he’d make way more sense for this new team at No. 2, even if Maye is also a very promising player with a high upside.
