For years, the Dallas Cowboys had one of the most electric wide receivers in the game.
Often vocal, outspoken, and at times controversial, Dez Bryant didn’t always get the recognition he deserved.
His connection with Tony Romo was among the finest in the league.
Unfortunately, it never translated to postseason success.
Bryant was often frustrated and emotional on the sidelines, and some thought he didn’t get along that well with some of his teammates.
However, he recently admitted that he actually loved Romo, jokingly adding that he wished he were his true No. 1 target.

Notably, Romo and Bryant did a lot of damage together, combining for 359 catches for 5,133 yards and 54 touchdowns in 71 games.
Even so, one could argue that legendary TE Jason Witten was Romo’s favorite target, as they combined for 786 catches for 8,785 yards and 47 touchdowns in 156 games, and that’s in an era where tight ends weren’t involved in the offense as much as they are nowadays.
Romo was infamous for some of his shortcomings, especially in big moments and in the playoffs, but he was one of the best — or at least most consistent — quarterbacks in the game when he was in his prime.
The narrative around him and Bryant was always that they couldn’t get over the hump.
But after watching the way the Cowboys have fared after they left, it’s hard to blame them, and it seems like those issues are rooted deeper within the organization.
Hopefully for the fans, it won’t always be that way.
