The Houston Astros are playing the Kansas City Royals in an early afternoon game on Thursday.
While the game was still underway at the moment of writing this article, the starting pitchers are long gone from the game.
Hunter Brown was the man in charge of trying to shut down the Royals’ bats in the matinee.
Instead, he was shelled for nine runs.
He couldn’t even complete an inning of work, and conceded 11 hits, nine earned runs, and handed out a walk on 40 pitches.
He couldn’t strike anyone out.
According to MLB reporter and producer Paul Casella, Brown had a historically bad performance.
“Astros starter Hunter Brown is the 1st pitcher in MLB history to allow 11 hits while pitching less than 1 full inning,” he tweeted.

To sum up, Brown faced 14 hitters.
11 of them got base hits and he walked one; retiring just two.
Yikes.
His ERA for the season now stands at an unfathomable 16.43, and the Astros’ pitching woes continue.
They are currently without their top two starters, Justin Verlander and Framber Valdez, due to injuries.
The former is already pitching rehab starts, and the latter seems to be mostly fine after an elbow scare.
They are also without Jose Urquidy, Lance McCullers Jr., and Luis Garcia.
The organization is relying on guys like Brown to offer some stability and quality innings.
That’s why today’s outing was particularly rough for the pitcher and the team.
The bullpen just can’t stand such a large workload.
The Astros have no choice but to send Brown to the mound again next wee.
