The Minnesota Vikings are facing a pivotal moment in their history.
Kirk Cousins’ departure left the door wide open for a new quarterback, and they will spare no effort in getting the right guy for their project.
They’ve been rumored to be in the mix to trade up to land a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft, and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah may have confirmed those rumors.
Talking to the media, the Vikings executive stated that just because something is risky doesn’t mean they won’t do it, adding that they could swing for the fences because they need to make their move.
“Just because something is risky doesn’t mean you’re scared of it. It’s uncertain and we’ve got to take our swing, but that doesn’t give us any pause,” he said.

That all but confirms their desire to jump into the top five.
The Vikings have reportedly been following J.J. McCarthy quite closely, and he’s now projected to be a top-five selection as well.
They could trade with the Arizona Cardinals or Los Angeles Chargers, who own the No. 4 and No. 5 selections, respectively.
However, and despite being in big need of a quarterback of their own, the New England Patriots could also reportedly be in play for a trade back from No. 3.
We haven’t seen so many top-notch quarterback prospects in quite a while, so the Vikings should have plenty of opportunities to get the guy they like.
As everybody should know by now, there’s never something like a sure thing in the NFL Draft, and especially not with first-round quarterbacks.
But with the current pool of players, not taking that risk could almost feel like a disservice.
