Over the last couple of years, the Miami Dolphins have seen Tua Tagovailoa develop into a legitimate superstar under center, as he’s started to come into his own and, as a result, become an NFL MVP candidate over the last two seasons.
Although health is always a concern with Tagovailoa, considering everything he’s gone through physically during his football career, the former University of Alabama star has become a very consistent player who has also turned things around for the Dolphins franchise.
Even though Tagovailoa has proven himself over the past couple of seasons, he still has his fair share of doubters and some believing he’s nothing more than a system quarterback, which hasn’t sat too well with his former teammate Christian Wilkins.
Wilkins, who recently signed a massive deal with the Las Vegas Raiders in NFL free agency, made an appearance on the “Third And Long” podcast and said he doesn’t believe Tagovailoa is a system quarterback, via King of Phinland.
“I had a front-row seat to Tua and his growth as a player, teammate, and leader, so I was able to see his process, and it’s been cool to watch,” Wilkins said. “I don’t care what system you’re in, you’re the one out there still playing. So definitely shoutout to him for the things he’s been able to do and accomplish, and it was just cool having a front-row seat to watching his development as a player.”

The real question for Tagovailoa moving forward is whether he can continue to develop and improve while making the Dolphins a better football team every season.
Tagovailoa definitely has the talent around him with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Raheem Mostert, but it remains to be seen if he can lead Miami to a title.
