The Chicago Bears’ presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is USC quarterback Caleb Williams, and former player and current FOX Sports analyst James Jones believes the rookie will have an immediate impact on the franchise.
In a video clip of Thursday’s “Speak” posted to Twitter, Jones told viewers that Williams should immediately make the Bears a playoff contender in his first year.
“Four more wins equals 11, means playoffs,” Jones said, noting how Chicago earned seven wins last season.

Jones based his prediction on how big of an upgrade the Bears will make in adding Williams to the roster, telling viewers that the Heisman winner will find success with one of the easier NFL schedules next season.
In addition to Williams, the Bears have signed or traded for significant pieces to help the team’s ailing offense, Jones noted.
Chicago acquired Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen this offseason in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers, pairing him with current Bears receiver DJ Moore in 2024.
The Bears also acquired running back D’Andre Swift, signing the former Philadelphia Eagles running back to a three-year, $24 million contract in March.
Jones also praised the Chicago offensive line, calling the unit a solid bunch that will be able to protect Williams in the passing game while making holes for Swift in the running game.
All of the upgrades to the offense are paired with a defensive unit that was solid in 2023.
Jones also called the defense one of the top in the league in the second half of the season.
