It’s about time the Green Bay Packers’ defense finally steps up.
For years, their defensive unit has had plenty of talent, but they’ve failed to live up to the expectations.
That’s why they didn’t hesitate to part ways with DC Joe Barry right after the end of the season, replacing him with former Boston College HC Jeff Hafley.
Needless to say, expectations are at an all-time high, as Hafley established a strong defensive presence during his days with the Eagles, and he’s going to have more than enough assets to work with.
That bodes well for DT Kenny Clark, who expects Hafley will allow him to be more aggressive (Via Around the NFL):
“Fiery, his energy … he’s going to bring it,” Clark said. “He’s going to challenge everybody — challenge everybody to be great. That’s what you want as a coach. You want them to hold guys accountable.”

The Packers are coming off another disappointing season on defense.
They allowed the 10th most points and ranked 17th in yards allowed.
They were particularly bad in December, losing to the New York Giants with undrafted rookie QB Tommy DeVito behind center, and allowing Baker Mayfield to have a perfect passer rating at Lambeau Field.
The Packers were significantly better in the postseason, but that wasn’t enough for Barry to hold onto his job any longer.
Packers fans hope Hafley will finally maximize this unit and bolster their Super Bowl chances.
