There are many ways to build a Super Bowl-winning team in today’s NFL.
Some, such as the Kansas City Chiefs, look to build through the NFL Draft, finding gems and diamonds in the rough, developing, and then trying to hold onto them.
Others, like the Los Angeles Rams, don’t have the time or patience to do that, and they would much rather stack as much talent as they can to get the job done right away.
The Rams clearly benefited from that approach, as they made it to two Super Bows in the past decade, winning one of them.
However, it also hurt them significantly when it came to the NFL Draft, as they went seven years without owning a single first-round selection.
As pointed out by Grant Gordon of NFL.com, that streak will finally come to an end this season (via Around the NFL).

The Rams will be on the clock with the No. 19 selection, and some have them going with Texas DL Byron Murphy II.
The craziest part about the Rams’ approach to team building is that they’ve managed to find plenty of value in the latter rounds of the draft, finding guys like Puka Nacua.
The Rams might not be as competitive next season after Aaron Donald finally decided to walk away from the game, but they should at least get the benefit of the doubt because of their solid scouting department, not to mention that Sean McVay has established himself as one of the best coaches in the game.
