The Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears both struggled to generate consistent pressure on quarterbacks last season, putting up just 42 and 30 sacks, respectively, with the latter being second-worst in the NFL.
Both teams now look to the draft to help solve this issue, and reports are suggesting they each have a big prospect on their radar.
Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported that the Broncos and Bears both have visits scheduled with Florida State star pass rusher Jared Verse.

Verse is one of the best in the draft at his position and put up an impressive 18 sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss in his two seasons at Florida State.
With Caleb Williams likely going first overall to the Bears, this meeting would suggest Verse could be in play for the team with their other first-round pick at No. 9, or the Bears could be looking at trading down and keeping their options open.
The Broncos have the 12th pick, which is right around where Verse has been projected in many mock drafts.
Neither team has adequately addressed the position in free agency, though the Bears did lock up Montez Sweat to a 4-year, $98 million extension after trading for him last season.
Pass rusher is one of, if not the biggest need for each of these teams outside of the Broncos’ quarterback void, so Verse would immediately step in and be trusted to put up double-digit sacks right out of the gate.
After blowing everyone away at the NFL Combine, Verse is firmly in play to go top-10 in this draft.
