With the 2024 NFL Draft quickly approaching, the excitement is starting to reach a fever pitch as numerous players can come in and help a team from Day 1.
One of the most highly-touted players in this year’s draft class is Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze who is almost a near-lock to go in the top-10.
Odunze had a successful college career with the Huskies and starred for them in 2023 as they made it all the way to the championship game.
In most years, Odunze would be the first receiver off the board though players like Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers are expected to go before him.
Still, any team that’s lucky enough to have Odunze fall to them will be in for a treat as he has the potential to be a true No. 1 receiver that head coaches can build their offenses around.
Growing up, Odunze didn’t watch a lot of NFL football but revealed that former Chicago Bears wide receiver and return specialist Devin Hester was his favorite player to watch via Ryan Clark of The Pivot.
Rome Odunze didn’t grow up in a football household. So, he had to find his football inspiration from somewhere else, & that place was @youtube. It was an unlikely hero & one of the best rappers dead or alive that peaked his interest in the game! @D_Hest23 became @romeodunze’s… pic.twitter.com/E29Lu8e0ro

In his prime, Hester was an electric player on the field as he was feared as a punt returner.
Hester was also a great wideout who could make highlight-reel plays with the ball in his hands, similar to Odunze.
Oddly enough, the Bears are projected to be one of the teams who could take Odunze and would surely pounce on him if he falls to No. 9.
