Occam’s Razor is the idea that the simplest solution is preferable to the ones that are more complex, and after months of deliberating between quarterback prospects, that idea applies perfectly to this year’s NFL Draft.
Fans and media members got months of content and arguments out of debating what the Chicago Bears should do with the No. 1 pick, but one analyst thinks it was a no-brainer all along.
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah spoke about his favorite prospect recently, saying: “There’s no one more special than Caleb Williams in this year’s draft.”

For months, the idea of trading the first overall pick for the second year in a row was seen as a viable option for the Bears, as many fans wanted them to stick with Justin Fields and trade down, but Chicago traded Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for just a sixth-round pick, which spoke to how low his value had sunk around the league.
Williams is now locked in at the first pick and Jeremiah sees him as the top prize for a reason, praising Williams for how the ball explodes out of his hand, the mobility, the vision, and his ability to “color outside the lines” and make incredible plays when things break down.
Chicago has created an enviable situation for a rookie QB to step into by trading for star wide receiver Keenan Allen to pair with the other star receiver they acquired by trading last year’s first-overall pick, DJ Moore.
The offensive line has been improving, running back D’Andre Swift was signed in free agency, and this team is ready to roll with Williams leading the charge.
