The Miami Dolphins have had an offseason full of roster overturns, losing many foundational pieces on both sides of the ball such as Christian Wilkins, Robert Hunt, Andrew Van Ginkel, Brandon Jones, Raekwon Davis, Jerome Baker, Cedrick Wilson, and more.
One position the Dolphins have been rumored to be looking to upgrade this offseason is at wide receiver alongside stars Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but nothing has come to fruition yet.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald said that veterans Odell Beckham Jr. and Tyler Boyd remain Miami’s two top choices as a No. 3 receiver, but the holdup is monetary as neither receiver is thrilled at the idea of taking a hefty pay cut compared to what they were making last season.
Beckham made $15 million last season and Boyd made $10.3 million, and each one is seeking to get close to those respective numbers in their next deal as well.
Miami doesn’t have cap space to work with even after losing so much talent in free agency, as Spotrac currently has them with just under $4 million remaining.
Even if Beckham and Boyd don’t get the numbers they made last season, it’s likely they can find at least half of that amount, which is already more than Miami has available in cap space unless the team can find a way to get creative.
As of now, Braxton Berrios and River Cracraft are the receivers right behind Hill and Waddle on the depth chart, which doesn’t inspire much confidence for Dolphins fans.
