The New England Patriots are in a privileged position right now.
They’re in clear need of a quarterback, and they have the possibility to solve that issue.
They’ll be on the clock with the No. 3 selection in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and most analysts and fans assume they’ll use it to get a new gunslinger.
Notably, that includes NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Talking on ESPN, Schefter revealed that Drake Maye is the clear-cut favorite to arrive in New England (Via Billy M).
Schefter on QB3 “I think Drake Maye is the leader in the clubhouse, but it all depends on the team. If Minnesota were to find a way to go up to 3, my sense is Drake Maye is the preference.” pic.twitter.com/ngdRcpM1Bl

Nonetheless, he also acknowledges that it could all depend on who’s available, adding that the Minnesota Vikings are still looking to climb all the way to No. 3.
Should that be the case, then they would also go after Maye.
That’s a bit of a surprise, as rumors pointed to JJ McCarthy as the Vikings’ preferred choice.
Drake Maye has the athleticism, speed, and power to be the next big thing in the league, but some believe he could benefit from one year on the sidelines.
The Patriots could offer him that possibility, as they have a proven veteran in Jacoby Brissett, who could hold down the fort and help him develop for a season.
The Vikings are in a similar situation with Sam Darnold, who’s going to make about $10 million next season and could put pressure on the team to start him.
Whatever the case, it seems like Maye is going to go No. 3, regardless of his destination.
