Prior to last season, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was seen by many as a product of head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system and a guy who was ultimately destined to be a game manager and a check-down merchant tasked with simply dumping the ball off to one of his many elite playmakers on offense.
After finishing fourth in MVP voting following a run to the Super Bowl, many critics still feel this way about Purdy, and according to Purdy himself, he doesn’t really care.
Purdy appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” today and said about his critics: “People are always gonna have a talking point, and that’s fine…all I care about is the respect with the guys in the locker room and they see how I handle business here…turn on the film and there’s plays being made.”

Many sports fans only follow sports to tear athletes and teams down, and those types of fans aren’t worth paying any attention to.
Purdy still has just two years in the league as a starting quarterback and has done nothing but produce since the day he stepped into that role.
If critics aren’t convinced at this point, they never will be, so it’s healthy that Purdy isn’t focusing on any of the negativity that comes with losing a Super Bowl.
In Purdy’s first full year as a starter last season, he put up 4.208 passing yards and 31 touchdowns with 11 picks over 16 games.
His critics better get used to it, because Purdy isn’t going anywhere.
