The 2023 NHL Season kicked off on October 10th, which saw three games take place on opening night.
One of those games was highly anticipated, the matchup between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks.
While this was the season opener for both teams, it was also the debut of rookie sensation, Connor Bedard.
Bedard might have been the star of the show, but at one point, the Pittsburgh Steelers were a focal point for many fans.
As shared in a video from Penguins reporter Jenna Harner, a “Fire Canada” chant overtook the arena.

This is in direct reference to Matt Canada, offensive coordinator for the Steelers.
Canada was a major talking point throughout the offseason.
Many fans believed that he wasn’t a good person to lead the Steelers’ offense, especially given how young Kenny Pickett is.
Fans see Pickett as a blossoming player who isn’t being taken care of by Canada.
Currently, the Steelers hold a 3-2 record and sit atop the AFC North.
While this might lead some to believe that their offense is not the problem, fans and analysts tend to disagree.
The Steelers’ offense is currently tied for the third-lowest output in the league.
They average 15.8 points per game, which is only better than the New England Patriots and New York Giants.
Something has to change in this offense, and many fans believe that removing Canada could go a long way.
Mike Tomlin is a beloved figurehead for the Steelers, one of the longest-tenured head coaches in the league.
Will he help institute changes in this offense?
