Defensive tackle prospects are starting to get a little more attention in the last week leading up to the NFL Draft after quarterbacks and wide receivers were the hot topics for months.
Overall, this is not viewed as one of the stronger defensive drafts, but there are some prospects on defense who are starting to move up the mock draft boards, with one prospect starting to get some attention as a later pick.
Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz shared that one player starting to gain “a lot of buzz” as a potential Day 3 pick is Oklahoma DT Jonah Laulu, due to his ability to play multiple positions on the defensive line and his extraordinary testing results.

Scouts like his size, length (nearly 34-inch arms) and explosiveness — and the fact he can play multiple positions across the defensive line. Laulu was a star tester as well, running in the 4.8s… pic.twitter.com/cPkWfWv0n2

Laulu didn’t post big numbers last season, with just 11 tackles and one sack under his belt.
The fifth-year senior transferred from Hawaii and played two years with the Sooners and needed a big Pro Day performance due to not being invited to the NFL Combine.
It appears he did enough at his Pro Day to turn some heads, while it has been noted he was able to gain a bit of weight in order to play inside more often.
An athletic defensive tackle is never a bad decision on Day 3 of the draft where anything goes, and Laulu has the upside to make it worth the investment.
