With about a week left until the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway on April 25, the consensus is that Caleb Williams, out of the University of Southern California, will be the top pick, while a few quarterbacks are in contention to go No. 2 overall to the Washington Commanders.
One of those quarterbacks that could be taken by the Commanders next Thursday is former University of North Carolina star Drake Maye.
Although some have criticized Maye for a number of different reasons, Tar Heels head coach Mack Brown has only high praise for his former star quarterback, as he went as far as to say he would adopt him.
During an appearance on “The Jim Rome Show,” Brown went into detail about why he believes Maye will be a franchise quarterback on the NFL level.
“He’s so competitive at everything he does,” Brown said. “He’s smart. He’s got pride. He is so passionate about football that he does everything right in his life to make sure that he’s going to play the best that he can play.”

As of right now, it appears to be down to Maye and former LSU star Jayden Daniels for the second pick in the draft, with J.J. McCarthy out of the University of Michigan being a potential longshot to be taken by Washington.
It may come down to draft night to know where Maye is going because if the Commanders don’t take him, it’s safe to say he won’t fall past the New England Patriots at No. 3 overall.
