The New England Patriots are expected to take Drake Maye — or another quarterback — with the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Nonetheless, they’re not the kind of team that’s just one piece away from contention.
For years, they’ve had one of the worst — if not the worst — wide receiver rooms in the entire league.
That’s why, regardless of who they have behind center, they need a major upgrade there if they want to find any sort of success.
With that in mind, de facto GM Eliot Wolf confirmed that they’ve been engaged in multiple trade talks involving wide receivers (via Los Talks Pats).
Eliot Wolf says the #Patriots have had conversations with teams about trades for wide receivers and other positions.

Actually, he stated that the team has also been looking to make moves to bolster other positions on their roster, not just wide receiver.
The Patriots have dropped the ball when it comes to scouting and developing players way too often.
The final four years of Bill Belichick’s tenure in town were stained by constant failure, and the fans crave a drastic change of approach and direction in that regard.
Jerod Mayo could give them that, all while maintaining some familiarity and making it a somewhat smooth transition from the final dark passage of the Belichick era.
Even so, unless this team strikes gold with the No. 3 pick and also manages to make some big moves or find some hidden gems in the draft, they might need more than a year or two before getting back to contention, especially considering how stacked their division is right now.
