The Minnesota Vikings are entering a new era.
With Kirk Cousins heading out, they’re looking to get a new quarterback.
And while Sam Darnold might be a solid stopgap for them, they know they need to get a younger and better guy to compete for years to come.
That’s why they’ve been one of the most aggressive teams leading up to the NFL Draft.
According to ESPN insider Kimberley A. Martin, they’re actively trying to move up to the top five (via The Purple Persuasion).

“[The Vikings have] been on the phone to actively move up… in a perfect world they would start Thursday with that top-5 pick already in hand.”

The Vikings’ decision-makers acknowledged that they would do whatever it took to improve their roster, and that would definitely be a good way to do so.
They currently have the No. 11 and No. 23 picks, and that should be enough for them to at least start the conversation.
The New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Chargers — who will be on the clock at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5, respectively — are all reportedly open for business and willing to make a move at the right price.
Whether the Vikings will be able or willing to meet that price remains to be seen, but at least they’ll try.
And if Martin is right about her report, we may not even have to wait until the start of the NFL Draft to know what they’re going to do, as they’re trying to move up as we speak.
The Vikings have been tied to Drake Maye and J.J. McCarthy for weeks now, and it remains to be seen if they’ll be able to pull it off.
