There was a report this week that the Washington Commanders hosted a large group of the draft’s top prospects for a collective trip to TopGolf, which is an unusual way of approaching pre-draft visits.
Typically, the top prospects get one-on-one visits so teams can do a deep dive and thoroughly explore a potential working relationship in a more intimate setting, and the group visit has reportedly caused some legitimate unrest with one of the draft’s top prospects.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the “smoke” surrounding Jayden Daniels being unsure of playing for the Commanders is real, and that the prospect has real “interest” in playing for the Las Vegas Raiders, while also being “intrigued” with the Minnesota Vikings.
According to @JFowlerESPN, the “smoke” with Jayden Daniels unsure of playing for the #Commanders is REAL.
He also said he has real “interest” in playing for the #Raiders and “intrigued” with the #Vikings

Fowler added that “this has not gone as smoothly as it should” in regards to Washington building a relationship with it’s potential future quarterback.
There’s so much smoke at this point we can’t even see.
The reality of the situation is that if Daniels isn’t completely sold on the Commanders, then Washington will likely either select Drake Maye or just select Daniels anyway and try to make it work.
Daniels questioning the Commanders isn’t going to force them to go an alternative route unless Daniels pulls an Eli Manning and publicly says he won’t play for them.
If Washington wants Daniels, it will take him.
The Raiders and Vikings would have to move up so far to make a trade happen, and Daniels’ interest in them is mostly irrelevant due to how unlikely it would be for him to land in either spot.
