Team owner Jerry Jones can’t be happy with how the Dallas Cowboys failed to live up to their promise as a Super Bowl contender.
The Cowboys looked like they could finally get over the hump after a strong finish to the 2023 NFL season, but they proved any optimists wrong after losing to the Green Bay Packers at home in the Wild Card Round.
Now, Dallas must figure out a way to compete with the rest of the NFC despite not doing much in free agency.
They have a few picks in the 2024 NFL Draft they can use to bolster the roster, but the team’s success will likely hinge on Dak Prescott’s play on the field.
Prescott had a career year under center in 2023 and is now expected to reset the quarterback market with his new deal.
However, Prescott revealed that he isn’t looking to become the highest-paid quarterback in the league via Todd Archer of ESPN.
“No, I’m not trying to be the highest paid, necessarily,” he said. “We’ll wait until the negotiations begin and obviously want to put this team in the best situation.”

It sounds like Prescott is willing to work things out with the Cowboys to ensure they have enough money left over to surround him with weapons.
With the NFL’s salary cap rising and expected to make another jump in 2025, Prescott’s set himself up nicely to get a lucrative deal done.
As things stand now, he’s set to play the 2024 NFL season in the final year of his four-year deal so getting an extension done should be a priority for Dallas.
