The quarterbacks are all the rage in this upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, with so many big names from Power 5 programs headlining this class and a good portion of the league in need of finding its next franchise guy under center.
It’s tough to accurately assess each player with so much talent at the position, but one analyst finds one of the best QB prospects to have a lot in common with Jared Goff.
Brett Whitefield of Fantasy Points appeared on the “Fantasy Feast” podcast and said, “I get massive Jared Goff vibes when I watch him,” in reference to Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.

Penix was on top of the world this college season as he finally stayed healthy and led his Huskies to the National Championship Game, putting up 4,903 passing yards and 36 touchdowns.
Goff was the first overall pick out of California in 2016 and was praised for his accuracy, decision-making, and poise despite not being much of a threat in the running game.
Goff still is one of the league’s least mobile quarterbacks, and Penix didn’t run much at all last season either yet still was able to put up massive numbers.
That might make a difference in the NFL, as Penix reportedly ran a shocking 4.46 40-yard dash at his Pro Day, which is a dominant number for a quarterback.
Fans are finally starting to appreciate Goff more after he nearly led the Detroit Lions to the Super Bowl and if a team thought they were getting a guy like that when selecting Penix, he’d be a lock as a first-round pick.
