The New England Patriots have a strong pair of cornerbacks in their secondary in Jonathan Jones and Christian Gonzalez, but they lost a few depth pieces in free agency that have left a bit of a void in the back end of their defense.
More depth at corner could certainly be a focus in the upcoming NFL Draft, and according to reports, the team already has its eye on somebody.
@LosTalksPats posted on Twitter that The Draft Network’s Justin M said the team recently met with Colorado State CB prospect Chigozie Anusiem, who is a projected Day 3 pick.
The #Patriots recently met virtually with Colorado State CB Chigozie Anusiem, per @JustinM_NFL.
Anusiem ran in the 4.3 range at CSU’s Pro Day and his 6’1 200lb benefits him as an aggressive press-man corner.

Anusiem is a fifth-year senior and transferred to Colorado State after three years at Cal.
He is coming off his best season where he posted 57 tackles and his first career interception.
The one interception is a bit troubling and is surely a reason why he is projected to possibly go undrafted, as picking off one pass as a corner over five years shows that he might not have the ball skills many teams covet in the NFL.
The clip highlights his ability and potential as a press-man corner, but he’ll have to make more plays to stick in the NFL.
The Pats would be a good spot for him, as they already have a pair of established corners and a defensive-minded system that could mold him into a good pro.
