The New England Patriots have plenty of options at their disposal right now.
Multiple teams are reportedly trying to get them to trade down from No. 3, and while they could be open for business, it could take a lot to get them to make a move.
For most of the NFL Draft process, they’ve been projected to get a new franchise quarterback, and that would make the most sense for them.
With that in mind, Patriots insider Albert Breer revealed that most decision-makers within the organization are keeping tabs on both Drake Maye and J.J. McCarthy, with Maye having a bit of an edge over him right now (via Mike Kadlick).
“Both [Drake] Maye and [J.J.] McCarthy have their fans in the #Patriots’ building.
And if it’s down to those two, my guess at this point is the team sticks at three and takes Maye.” https://t.co/UGc3WkdZND

Maye has been the Patriots’ projected pick for most of the process.
Then again, they could also be in the mix to get Jayden Daniels if the Washington Commanders shockingly decide to take Maye or McCarthy instead.
No one truly knows what the Patriots will do, as there’s not much of a sample size to assess their tendencies.
If Bill Belichick were still there, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them go with a surprise pick.
But with the legendary coach no longer there and calling all the shots, one would expect them to take the more orthodox route and go with the quarterback they so clearly need to get back to their winning ways.
Whether it’ll be Maye, McCarthy, or someone else, remains to be seen.
