The Miami Dolphins had a hot start to the 2023 NFL season.
Their offense was flowing well, and it seemed like they were slated to steamroll their AFC competition in the playoffs.
However, even though they started well, the Dolphins started to fall apart at the end of the year, and they eventually lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round.
The Dolphins’ downfall wasn’t due to a lack of talented players, as their offense consists of names like Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Tua Tagovailoa.
On paper, this is one of the best offensive cores in the league, but it was clear that they needed more names around them to make a meaningful playoff run.
When looking to the draft for a few players to add, Brian Baldinger suggested the Dolphins add a center, as he mentioned in a segment on the NFL Network.
“Keep the offense elite,” Baldinger said, adding, “You can start working on your defense in the next round.”
Brian Baldinger believes the Miami Dolphins should draft a starting Center in the first-round: “Keep the offense elite. You can start working on your defense in the next round… I would say keep the offense as strong as possible.” (@nflnetwork) #FinsUp pic.twitter.com/4gqOyVEp9B

In Baldinger’s mind, adding a center would do a lot for this team.
Having an elite center can be the difference between a good team and a great team.
The Philadelphia Eagles have demonstrated this well during the Jason Kelce era.
Kelce was one of the best centers in the NFL for more than a decade, and the Eagles were able to implement several key plays as a result, including their infamous “tush-push.”
It will be interesting to see where the Dolphins go in the draft, and if they follow Baldinger’s advice and take a center.
