The last few years in New England without Tom Brady did not go well.
As a result, Mac Jones was shipped off to Jacksonville for a late-round pick, and the team parted ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick.
Now, without a quarterback, Owner Robert Kraft and Co. are hoping they can draft the next great signal-caller in New England later this week.
According to The Athletic, Kraft “badly wants the team to come away from the draft with a quarterback.”
#Patriots Owner Robert Kraft “badly wants the team to come away from the draft with a quarterback” — even if New England decides to trade back, they will most likely still add a rookie QB early in the draft, per @TheAthletic.

Even with Bailey Zappe and veteran Jacoby Brissett on the roster, the team is seemingly not comfortable going into the season with just those two.
Whether or not the Patriots decide to stay put at No. 3 overall and select Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy, or Michael Penix Jr. is yet to be seen.
They could always trade back and acquire more picks before possibly drafting a guy like Bo Nix.
Remember, they have more needs than just the quarterback position.
Offensive tackle, wide receiver, and certain defensive positions need to be addressed.
The good news is that it will be very difficult for the organization to mess up this draft because there aren’t many expectations for them.
They are searching for a new quarterback in the first year without Belichick.
Nobody knows what they will be under Jerod Mayo, and that is a quiet advantage.
But, if they are hoping to select a quarterback, they are in a really good spot at No. 3 and can either wait for their guy or trade down in an effort to acquire more picks.
