Peter Schrager of FOX Sports is locked in and is more knowledgeable about what is going on behind the scenes of the NFL Draft than just about anybody, so anytime he speaks, it’s worth it for fans to listen.
In his most recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Schrager revealed some of the most interesting pre-draft nuggets he currently has.
On the show, Schrager said “I’ve been on the phones nonstop for the last 48 hours and I’ve got some interesting updates,” most notably saying “there will be trades up and there will be trades down” and “I think the top-six QBs including Penix and Nix could all go in the first half of the first round.”

Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix both being in play in the top 15 is a fun development, as it’s not breaking news given the fact that the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders are all picking around that spot and all clearly need a new franchise quarterback, but it has always been a possibility both those QBs could slip to the second round.
It’s unclear where the trades will start, but after the first two picks feels like a reasonable assumption, as both No. 3 and No. 4 could be up for grabs given all the quarterbacks available.
Penix and Nix are the interesting wild cards of the QB market, and while fans have been focused on who might trade up into the top five for a quarterback, perhaps we need to think about if anyone might trade up to the 10-15 area for Penix or Nix.
