The Cowboys still haven’t made it to an NFC Championship Game since the 90s.
Now, is that directly quarterback Dak Prescott’s fault?
Obviously not, at least that’s according to Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones.
With possible contract talks once again looming, Jones was asked by the Dallas Media Tuesday about Prescott’s future with the Cowboys.
“We want Dak Prescott. That’s that…I wouldn’t even blink on that,” Jones said.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: “We want Dak Prescott. That’s that. The improvement demonstrated (last season) that there’s more. We want Dak. We think there is room for growth.

Prescott has been a quality player ever since he was drafted back in 2016 by Jones and Co.
Despite not reaching an NFC Championship Game in what feels like forever, Prescott is still an ascending player.
He is coming off the best season of his career in 2023, which saw him set career-highs in touchdown passes (36) and completions (410).
The former Mississippi State star nearly won the MVP en route to a 12-5 record and an NFC East Title.
The only problem is that Dallas is just 2-5 in the playoffs with Prescott as the starter.
Again, winning is a team thing.
One player cannot do it alone.
It wasn’t Prescott’s fault that his “elite” defense gave up 48 points to the Packers in their wildcard round loss last January.
But sometimes, management likes to take things in a different direction and start fresh.
After this upcoming season, the 30-year-old will be a free agent unless the organization truly decides to offer him a new deal.
It has to be wondered if the Cowboys can’t at least make it to the NFC Championship Game, perhaps they will decide to look for a new quarterback.
Maybe they even draft one later on in this upcoming draft.
Wouldn’t that be an interesting development?
