The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft will get underway on Thursday night, with the Chicago Bears on the clock at No. 1 overall and everyone expecting the struggling franchise to bring in USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams.
Once Williams is presumably off the board with the top pick in the draft, it remains to be seen in what order the other top quarterback prospects will be taken, with Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy, and Michael Penix Jr. likely also being draft in the first round on April 25.
Although Daniels, Maye and McCarthy may be taken in the top 10 picks, Penix is a bit more of a question mark as it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that he drops out of the first round entirely.
However, Penix has gotten a lot of praise as of late, with some believing he’s one of the most polished quarterbacks coming out of the college game, with Dan Orlovsky of ESPN comparing him to Detroit Lions star Jared Goff.

Although Penix is easily one of the most talented and polished quarterbacks in this draft class, he may also be one of the most risky prospects as he has been injured quite often, which obviously makes most NFL teams nervous, especially when it comes to using a first-round pick on the former University of Washington star.
Despite his health issues over the years, Penix could still go to a team midway through the first round, with the Las Vegas Raiders being rumored to be interested in his services.
