With only a couple of days left before the Chicago Bears are officially on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the speculation continues about the top quarterback prospects in this draft class and where they’ll be taken during the draft.
One of the most intriguing quarterback prospects is former University of Michigan star J.J. McCarthy, who could go very high in the draft or be one of the top players to draft in the first round.
The consensus right now is that Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye are the top quarterback prospects in the upcoming draft, with McCarthy potentially being the fourth-best quarterback in the draft class.
However, something that McCarthy recently admitted might hurt him a bit, as he said that hockey is his first love, according to Adam Jahns of The Athletic.
J.J. McCarthy is on record calling hockey his first love.

During the draft evaluation process, everything is analyzed and taken into account when a player is looked at by NFL teams in terms of whether they are worth taking a chance on, especially when it comes to a team using a first-round draft pick.
Although McCarthy was only being honest, which obviously is a great trait to have, it remains to be seen if this hurts his draft stock and which team will look to bring him in on April 25.
It’ll be interesting to see where McCarthy ends up going in the draft and if a team feels the need to trade up in the draft on Thursday to bring him in.
