The NFL Draft is just around the corner, and it’s never easy to make predictions about what will happen at this point.
For most of the process, some prospects have been penciled in as the best in the class, but we’ve seen things turn out differently in real life multiple times.
That’s why, contrary to what most people thought for months, the best wide receiver prospect might not be the guy who was at the top of most big boards.
According to NFL insider Chris Simms, several decision-makers currently have Malik Nabers ahead of Marvin Harrison Jr. in their WR rankings.
Marvin Harrison Jr is a really damn good prospect.
Malik Nabers is special.
An overwhelming majority of NFL people I’ve heard from have Nabers rated higher than Harrison— Chris Simms (@CSimmsQB) April 24, 2024
Marvin Harrison Jr. has been touted as the best non-quarterback player in this class for quite a while now, and his career at Ohio State was simply remarkable.
Nabers, on the other hand, continues to make strides on big boards, with some scouts arguing that he’s an even bigger threat in the open field and that the talent gap between him and Harrison isn’t as wide as originally thought.
Harrison Jr. has slipped in draft projections because of JJ McCarthy’s surge, and with multiple teams looking to get a franchise quarterback, he might fall to No. 5.
That means that Nabers could be up for grabs outside of the top five.
And with teams like the New York Giants also looking to get a playmaker for their offense, he might be talented enough to make them pivot and move on from their plan of getting a quarterback to pursue him instead.
