Every single year, a polarizing prospect gets mixed reviews from NFL fans and experts.
This time isn’t the exception to the rule, and that guy is Michael Penix Jr.
Penix’s case is particularly special.
Everybody agrees that he’s a special talent, and there’s absolutely nothing to dislike about his tape.
However, he’s on the older side of the spectrum, and he does have a worrisome story of multiple injuries.
That’s why he’s projected to be a late selection in the first round, with others thinking he could even slip to the second round.
Nonetheless, a report by Dan Graziano of ESPN reveals that the New York Giants might be willing to swing for the fences and make a run at him.
Apparently, he’s still in the running to be the No. 6 pick, as they really like him, and they might be desperate enough to go as high as No. 6 to secure leaving Thursday with a franchise quarterback (via JPA Football).

The Giants have reportedly tried to trade up to the top five to get either Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy, but they also like Penix.
From a talent perspective, there’s no doubt that the Washington star could be worthy of a top-10 selection, and his decision to stay in college for another season to prove that he could stay healthy certainly paid off.
Even so, all things considered, and with guys like Malik Nabers still on the table, it would be a bit of a surprise, and it would shake the entire first round up.
