The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft has finally arrived, with the festivities set to get underway later today with some of the best players from the college game making the jump to the NFL level, presumably starting with the Chicago Bears selecting USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick.
Once Williams is off the board to start the draft tonight, things will get very interesting, with a lot of trade buzz taking place, which has draft experts scrambling to figure out what teams might be trying to make deals in order to move up in the first round.
One of the main reasons for teams trying to move up is the amount of talented young quarterbacks that will be available at the top of the draft, including Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., and Bo Nix.
Although all these collegiate stars have different skill levels, some believe there could be a few franchise players in this draft class, which makes things interesting on Thursday night.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Penix could be a player moving up draft boards and being taken higher than expected in the first round.

The consensus right now is that Maye or Daniels will be taken at No. 2 overall when the Washington Commanders are on the clock, and the New England Patriots will select the player available among these two quarterbacks when they make their selection at No. 3.
As for Penix, there’s no telling where he could go, especially if he’s rising up draft boards, as he could be the surprise of the draft.
