With the 2024 NFL Draft approaching, there have been a number of rumors about teams looking to trade up in order to gain a selection in the top five or 10.
Perhaps the team most rumored to trade up is the Minnesota Vikings, who are in need of a quarterback after losing veteran Kirk Cousins in free agency.
Ryan Clark said per NFL on ESPN that the Vikings need to move up in the draft because of the presence of one Justin Jefferson.
“Justin Jefferson needs you to move up.”

Jefferson is one of the NFL’s very best wideouts at age 24, and he has already put up the type of numbers very few players have ever attained.
He led the league with 1,809 receiving yards in 2022, and even though he was limited to 10 games last season because of a hamstring injury, he still made it past the 1,000-yard barrier.
Minnesota also has wide receiver Jordan Addison, who had an excellent rookie year in 2023, and T.J. Hockenson, who is one of the best tight ends around.
If they were to add a solid QB such as J.J. McCarthy, the man they’re rumored to be interested in drafting, to that mix, they could likely challenge for a playoff spot this winter.
At the same time, there is likely also a considerable amount of pressure on the Vikings to trade up and get a QB because Jefferson is entering the last year of his contract.
If they don’t, there could always be the chance he cuts off contract negotiations and looks to leave for greener pastures.
