Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy was selected by the Minnesota Vikings at pick No. 10 in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night.
While many are high on the national champion, ESPN analyst and former Super Bowl champion Ryan Clark is not.
After being asked on Get Up if it was both a steal for the Vikings to get him at No. 10 and if the New York Giants missed out by not drafting him, Clark had an honest answer.
“No…J.J. McCarthy was drafted where J.J. McCarthy should have been drafted…They (New York Giants) have touched this fire before…That’s why they’re sitting where they are now,” Clark said Friday morning.

Clark is referring to the Giants picking Daniel Jones back in 2019 with the No. 6 overall pick.
They picked Jones because of necessity, and that is why they are still in trouble as an organization.
The team has made the playoffs just once in five seasons with Jones under center.
Now with Minnesota, it will be interesting to see how McCarthy pans out.
For the first time in his football career, he has a complete group of skill players at his disposal.
Wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, tight end T.J. Hockenson, and newly-signed running back Aaron Jones make up an elite group of offensive players.
However, McCarthy never had anything like that in Ann Arbor besides a great running back in Blake Corum.
Time will tell to see if he can truly build a strong rapport with those great players.
if he doesn’t, it could spill trouble for Minnesota.
