The Dallas Cowboys had one of the most disappointing offseasons in recent NFL history, and we’re not talking just about them as a franchise.
The Cowboys let some starters walk away, didn’t get a top-notch running back despite having at least five free-agent candidates, and didn’t sign any of their stars to contract extensions.
They didn’t make a splash in free agency, and while they did a solid job of replenishing their depleted offensive line in the NFL Draft, they didn’t get a young running back or a potential star, either.
That’s why, upon hearing the news of Ezekiel Eliott heading back to Arlington, NFL analyst Craig Carton didn’t hold back on them.
In the latest edition of The Carton Show, he jokingly said that they’re quickly becoming the Carolina Panthers, as they simply went through the motions in the offseason and didn’t do anything to improve their roster.
“They’re quickly becoming the Carolina Panthers,” Carton said.
The Cowboys are signing Ezekiel Elliott as their free agent RB…

Carton stated that he respects the fact that Elliott still has that competitive fire and desire to play, but the fact of the matter is that his best years are far behind him, and that’s just a reality.
As much as Elliott loves the game and the organization, he’s just not the guy he used to be, and that’s not going to change again.
The Cowboys have been mismanaged for quite a while, at least when it comes to personnel decisions and roster-building.
And, just like Carton said, the worst part about that is that neither Jerry nor Stephen Jones seem fazed by that.
