An old friend and familiar face has returned to Jerry World.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, former All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the team that drafted him in the Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas was desperately in need of running back help after Pro Bowl running back Tony Pollard joined the Tennessee Titans as a free agent.
After getting Elliott back in the fold, franchise quarterback Dak Prescott’s brother, Tad Prescott, was very happy to see the news.
“Welcome back 21 you have been missed,” Prescott tweeted Monday morning.
I’ve said for months, on multiple platforms that I believed Zeke was coming home. Welcome back 21 you have been missed https://t.co/luM7TYoExB

Before signing with the New England Patriots in 2023, Elliott was one of the best running backs in Cowboys history.
After getting drafted by Jerry Jones with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the former Ohio State Buckeye would go on to record four 1,000-yard rushing seasons and six seasons with at least 1,100 scrimmage yards.
He and Dak Prescott formed one of the best QB-RB tandems in the league almost immediately.
The Cowboys made four playoff appearances and won three division titles in Elliott’s seven seasons.
At 28 years old, the former national champion is now more of a No. 2 running back than a starter.
Last season, he rushed for a career-low 642 rushing yards and just 3 touchdowns.
But, he did total 955 scrimmage yards and 5 total touchdowns.
He is still a very serviceable player that can be great in short-yardage spots.
With a younger running back in Deuce Vaughn and seven-year veteran Royce Freeman also on the roster, Dallas isn’t in terrible shape with their backfield entering 2024.
