When a team like the New England Patriots is rebuilding at multiple positions, including wide receiver, they naturally would like to seek the opinion of the starting quarterback.
What is the signal-caller’s opinion of certain pass-catchers and how could they be utilized in New England’s offense?
The Patriots did this exactly with first-round rookie quarterback Drake Maye, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe.
“They (Patriots) talked to Drake Maye about some of these receivers and how they were going about the process…I won’t say they were picking receivers he wanted…But they would ask what he thought,” Wolfe said on “Cut To It,” a podcast hosted by NFL legend Steve Smith Sr.
The #Patriots asked Drake Maye for his opinion on receiving prospects before making their selections, per @CameronWolfe.

First and foremost, it has to feel good for Maye to be asked about his opinion when it comes to another offensive position.
It shows that they clearly value his opinion, especially when it comes to the personnel on the offensive side of the football.
New England would go on to select receivers Ja’Lynn Polk (2nd-round pick; Washington) and Javon Baker (4th-round pick; Central Florida) with a couple of their draft picks.
They are now part of a veteran wide receiver group that includes Kendrick Bourne, JuJu Smith-Schuster, K.J. Osborn, Tyquan Thornton, and Demario Douglas.
Look for Maye and the receivers to steadily grow together, especially he, Polk, and Baker, seeing as they are coming into the league together at the same time.
Patriots fans definitely have some pieces to be excited about as the new era in New England is about to kick off.
