The 2023 season didn’t pan out how the New York Giants expected heading into the year.
Despite making it to the playoffs in 2022 and winning a playoff game, the Giants took a big step backward in 2023.
They had one of the worst records in the NFL, causing many fans and analysts to question the roster moving forward.
One of the biggest questions surrounding this team coming into the offense was the job security of Daniel Jones.
There were rumors and speculation that the Giants might target the quarterback position in the draft, but they didn’t go in that direction.
While this might initially indicate that the Giants will stick with Jones, at least for the 2024 season, a recent comment from Daniel Jeremiah might indicate otherwise.
According to Gregg Rosenthal on Twitter, Jeremiah said, “I believe Drew Lock has a really good shot at winning that job.”
Here’s @movethesticks on Giants: “I believe Drew Lock has a really good shot on winning that job. … They were comparing Daniel Jones and Drew Lock, emphasis on Drew Lock, to the QBs that were going to be there (at 6) and the line for them was Drake Maye.” Hoo boy!

Lock was brought in as a backup during the offseason, hoping to find success and a fresh start with the Giants.
Despite being a highly touted second-round pick in 2019, Lock’s career hasn’t panned out as many anticipated, at least to this point.
But, as Jeremiah mentioned, the Giants seem to like him, and he could certainly see some playing time if Jones has another down year.
The Giants have struggled to find consistency from their quarterback since the departure of Eli Manning, and they might be growing impatient.
If Jones doesn’t inspire confidence early on in the season, Lock could get an early opportunity to demonstrate what he can do.
