In one of the Dallas Cowboys’ few moves this offseason, they brought back an old friend in former All-Pro running back Ezekiel Elliott on a one-year deal worth a max of $3 million.
With Pro Bowl running back Tony Pollard leaving for Tennessee as a free agent, Jerry Jones needed to find more help for the Dallas backfield.
He found that in the former NFL rushing leader.
Quarterback Dak Prescott was asked Wednesday about how he is feeling with Elliott back in the fold.
“Super excited…Obviously knowing our history…Understanding what he brings to the team…A guy that does everything the right way,” Prescott told the Dallas media.

Despite still being 28 years of age, Elliott is entering his ninth career season.
He spent the first seven seasons of his career in Dallas before joining New England last year.
The former Ohio State Buckeye led the NFL in rushing in both 2016 and 2018.
He also had at least 1,100 scrimmage yards in six of those seven years with the Cowboys in that first stint.
During that stint (2016-2022), the Cowboys won the NFC East three times and made four playoff appearances.
With the Patriots a season ago, he rushed for a career-low 642 yards but did total over 950 scrimmage yards and 5 total touchdowns.
He is not a true No. 1 starter anymore given his age and decline.
But, he will be a serviceable role player for Mike McCarthy this season.
He knows the offense and the personnel.
With young back Deuce Vaughn and veteran back Royce Freeman also in the fold, look for Elliott to be a capable player in short yardage and goal line situations.
