The Houston Texans took a big chance when they traded for Stefon Diggs.
It looked like a great move at first, but voiding the final years of his contract made some people think the Texans made a mistake.
Diggs is coming off a down season by his standards and comes with plenty of baggage and well-documented character issues, and taking a leap of faith worth a second-round pick might not be the wisest decision.
With that in mind, Pat McAfee asked Texans GM Nick Caserio about the logic behind this move on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“We have a lot of respect for Stefon Diggs and what he’s done in his career..
He’s been a really good player for a number of years and he’s very durable” ~ Nick Caserio #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/hrCiwT5cGK

Caserio responded that they don’t judge a player for what has happened to him somewhere else.
Instead, they just focus on how durable and productive he’s been for a number of years, adding that they have the utmost confidence in him.
Truth be told, Diggs is still a star in this league, and he’s a prime addition to this wide receivers corps, at least on paper.
Even if he’s mostly a decoy, having him out there will make C.J. Stroud’s job a lot easier, and that’s what it was all about all along.
If he’s motivated, he can have a bounce-back year and thank the Texans for that big vote of confidence by re-signing with them.
If it doesn’t work out or he creates trouble within the organization again, then they can just move on from him and swallow the cost of losing that pick for a one-year rental.
It’s a risky move, to say the least, but that’s often times how championship teams are made.
