The Seattle Seahawks might look a bit different in 2024 than they did during the 2023 season.
Yes, much of their core roster is still together, but losing Pete Carroll as head coach could have a monumental impact on this team.
The Seahawks were steady under Carroll’s leadership for many years, but at a certain point, both sides decided to move on.
It appears that the time is now, and the Seahawks have now promoted Mike Macdonald to be their newest head coach.
Macdonald hasn’t been incredibly active in the media to this point, but he did have several positive things to say about Geno Smith in a recent segment of NFL Total Access.
“I think he’s taking the bull by the horns,” Macdonald said, also saying, “Geno’s right at the tip of the spear.”

There were questions heading into the 2024 NFL Draft about Smith’s standing with the team, as fans were worried about his future with the organization.
Many of those questions were answered by the team’s actions, as they did not draft a quarterback in the first round like some fans speculated.
If Macdonald’s presser is any indication, he has a lot of faith in Smith to lead this franchise and hopes to bring it back to consistent success for the foreseeable future.
Carroll helped institute that during his tenure with the team, as did Russell Wilson for several seasons.
Fans will be interested to see how the pairing of Macdonald and Smith plays out in the long and short term.
